Broncos trade Smith, cut several others

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - The Denver Broncos announced several transactions on Saturday, including the acquisition of tight end Dan Gronkowski from the Detroit Lions in exchange for cornerback Alphonso Smith.
Also on Saturday, the team released 10 players and placed linebacker Elvis Dumervil and wide receiver Brandon Stokley on injured reserve. Defensive lineman Ben Garland was placed on the club's reserve/military list.
The following 10 players were released by Denver on Saturday:

Gronkowski (6-foot-5, 255 pounds) is a second-year player who saw action in two games (0 starts) for Detroit last season after he was selected by the club in the seventh round (255th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft from the University of Maryland.
