The Denver Broncos have signed veteran punter Mitch Berger and waived second-year punter Brett Kern.
Berger is a two-time Pro Bowler and a 16-year NFL veteran who was with Pittsburgh last season. He has a 43.0-yard career punting average and a career net average of 35.8 yards.
Terms of the Broncos deal announced yesterday weren't disclosed.
Berger made the 2004 Pro Bowl with the New Orleans Saints and the 1999 Pro Bowl with Minnesota.
After two seasons with the University of Colorado, he was selected by Philadelphia in the sixth round of the 1994 NFL draft.
