Broncos move on without Dumervil

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - The Denver Broncos reconvened for offseason workouts this week without Elvis Dumervil, the man who accumulated 63 ½ sacks over six seasons and was also a team captain and the man linebacker Von Miller called the rock of the locker room.

Dumervil left Denver for Baltimore after a foul-up with a fax machine turned him into a free agent. His teammates say they miss him, but that his departure also provided a needed refresher course about the business side of the NFL.

Denver's next task is replacing the defensive end who was the team's second-leading sack man last year.

The top candidate on the roster is Robert Ayers, though the Broncos may still go after Dwight Freeney in free agency. They'll also look at defensive ends in next week's draft.
