FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - The New England Patriots have traded running back Laurence Maroney to the Denver Broncos.

The Patriots receive undisclosed draft considerations in the deal made Tuesday that reunites their first-round draft choice in 2006 with Josh McDaniels, New England's offensive coordinator
before becoming Denver's coach last season. The trade is pending a physical examination.

Maroney hasn't emerged as a solid No. 1 back since being drafted out of Minnesota. In four seasons, he rushed for 2,430 yards and 21 touchdowns. He was inactive for Sunday's season-opening 38-24 win over the Cincinnati Bengals with a thigh injury.

Fred Taylor led the Patriots rushers in that game with 71 yards on 14 carries.
