Here is a brief look at the current fires burning in Colorado:
West Fork Fire Complex:
75,150 acres fire in the Wolf Creek Pass area west of South Fork. Zero percent containment with no structures burned. Lightning is believed to have started several fires in the area. Fire is threatening the town of South Fork, but firefighters think that aspen trees have slowed the fire enough that the town can be saved. The West Fork Complex consists of three wildfires, West Fork, Windy Pass, and Papoose.
East Peak Fire:
12,966 acre fire in the Spanish Peaks near Walsenburg. 15 percent containment and at least 13 structures have burned. Fire started last Wednesday and the cause is still under investigation.
Bull Gulch fire:
Acreage has been downgraded to 76 acres. The fire is about nine miles northeast of Cotopaxi in Fremont County is 80 percent contained. Fire started last Wednesday and cause is still under investigation. No structures are threatened and "mop up" has begun.
East Fork Fire:
Fire started early Saturday morning. 403 acre fire east of the town of Ridgway in southwest Colorado. Zero percent contained and was started by lightning. Some structures threatened.
Lime Gulch fire:
511-acre wildfire in the foothills west of Denver near Conifer is 90 percent contained. Lightning is believed to have started the fire on Tuesday. No structures are threatened at this time.
Wild Rose fire:
1,067 acre fire about 20 miles south of Rangely in northwest Colorado remains is at 95 percent containment. Lightning is believed to have started the fire last Wednesday. About 46 structures are considered threatened.
380-acre fire southwest of Meeker in northwest Colorado is 95 percent contained. No structures threatened.
Brush Creek fire:
403-acre fire is burning 12 miles north of Rifle in northwest Colorado is 40 percent contained. The lightning-caused fire started Thursday afternoon. No structures are threatened.
Big Meadows Fire:
617acres fire in Grand County in north central Colorado. This fire was started on June 10th by lightning and is now 95 percent contained. No structures were lost.
