The Sky Sox (24-29) couldn't get much going against LHP Brad Mills (4-0) and the Nashville Sounds (29-26) as the Sounds shutout Colorado Springs, 3-0, on Thursday night at Greer Stadium.
Mills struck out a career-high 13 batters over the course of eight shutout innings while allowing just three hits to the Sky Sox - two of which came from RF Kyle Parker.
It was the fifth time the Sky Sox have been shutout this season.
RHP Christian Bergman (3-4) was solid in his 11th start of the season, but picked up his fourth loss of the season, despite making his seventh quality start. The Sounds scored all three of their runs in the third against Bergman when they smacked four hits, including a solo- and two-run homer from Robinzon Diaz and Jeff Bianchi.
Other than the third inning, Bergman allowed just one hit. In total, he tossed seven innings and allowed three runs on five hits, with five punch outs against zero walks.
Parker collected two of the Sky Sox' three hits, while CF Jason Pridie smacked his 10th double of the season.
Closing out the game for Nashville RHP Donovan Hand who picked up his 10th save of the season, while striking out two.
In the series finale at 6:05 p.m. Friday night, the Sky Sox will look to split the four-game set against the Sounds. LHP Christian Friedrich (1-5, 6.91 ERA) will take on RHP Ariel Pena (3-4, 4.14 ERA).
