Bones found in Teller County don't belong to Becky Elshani

Skeletal remains found Sunday by a hunter in the mountains south of Cripple Creek do not belong to 22-year-old Becky Elshani. She disappeared from Colorado Springs in 2008. Her boyfriend later committed suicide.
Teller County Coroner Dr. Earl Byrne said identification of the remains centers around dental records. That indicates a skull was found. Dental records of known missing people are routinely compared to teeth found in skeletal remains in cases like this. But in this case, the dental records of Elshani do not match.
It may take a week, or longer to identify the remains, depending on how the investigation goes, according to Byrne.
A hunter told News First he had found a skull near Shelf Road, a four-wheel-drive road that connects Cripple Creek with Canon city.
