Bombing injures 6 in Afghanistan

Six people were injured Saturday during a powerful explosion outside police headquarters in Kandahar City, Afghanistan. Officials said a bomb went off inside a vehicle in a deserted area that had been turned into a parking lot for police vehicles.

It was not immediately clear whether the bomb was detonated by remote control or whether a suicide bomber caused the explosion.

Four police vehicles were destroyed and windows were shattered in the police headquarters as well as in a nearby government building.

Kandahar province is located in southern Afghanistan. US and foreign troops have been conducting operations against the Taliban in Helmand and Kandahar provinces over the past 18 months.
