Body of missing Salida woman discovered

Search teams discovered body of a missing Salida woman Friday morning after two days of looking for her. According to a news release from the Chaffee County Sheriffs Office, the body of Sue Johnson, 55, was discovered in a sitting position with her back against a tree. She was located in a remote part of the Brown's Creek area roughly 50 feet from a side road.

There were no obvious signs of trauma and investigators do not consider her death to be suspicious. Around twenty volunteers from the Chaffee County Search and Rescue team were looking for Johnson. The Salida Police Department and the Chaffee County Coroners Office will continue to investigate her death. An autopsy is planned but has not yet been scheduled.
