Peacock farmer Dennis Fett says getting snowed in at his western Iowa home has been like living in the days of "Little House on the Prairie."

With snow drifts of up to 15 feet covering area roads, Fett and his wife haven't left home since Tuesday. They've had intermittent power outages, spotty phone service and no internet access for days. And his heavy-duty snow blower has been no match for towering piles of snow.

Fett says he's hoping that the state makes a disaster declaration to help local counties with the cleanup.

The National Weather Service says more than 20 inches of snow have fallen in western Iowa. Temperatures are expected to fall this week, ruling out the possibility of a thaw.

Fett says he and his peacocks are fine - for now.
