Black Hills Energy builds two plants, will close two others

Construction is moving along on two natural gas power plants in Pueblo County, near the airport. Black Hills Energy and Black Hills Colo. IPP are building the plants estimated to cost up to $525 million. Today BHE will release an update on the progress of construction.

This comes at the energy company plans to close a coal-fired power plant in Canon City by 2013 and shut down a gas-fired power plant on Victoria Avenue along the riverwalk. We're meeting with Black Hills Energy officials today. More to come.
