Black Friday holiday rush kicks off

COLORADO SPRINGS- The rush to grab some of the hottest items of the year is happening now.
Residents began camping outside the Best Buy store on North Academy Wednesday afternoon.
By 2 p.m. Thursday, the line was beginning to wrap around the corner.
"Last year I got here around 4 p.m.," Chris Meek said. "I was up by the door. Today, I got here at 1 p.m. and I'm almost at the end of the building."
Some residents slept in tents while others camped out in chairs.
"I guess every year the merchandise gets better and better," he said.
So what's hot this year?
Laptops, televisions and game consoles are expected to be top sellers this weekend.
"I'm here for an Xbox," resident Chris Jenkins said. "It runs about $400 but it's on sale for $200."
The weekend sales have also attracted newcomers to the shopping chaos.
"I don't usually do this so it's definitely an eye opener to know that we are here this early and people are already lining up," resident Dylan Stubblefield said.
The "big" lines were contained to Best Buy stores.
Places like Kohls, Target and Office Depot didn't have shoppers waiting outside until later on Thursday evening.
Here's a list of a few retailers opening their doors Thursday evening:
Sears: 8 p.m.
Kohls: Midnight
Best Buy: Midnight
Macy's: Midnight
Wal Mart: 10 p.m.
Toys R' Us: 8 p.m.
Big Lots: Open Thanksgiving Day until 9 p.m.
Kmart: 8 p.m.
