The Colorado Department of Transportation has removed the Black Forest area from a feasibility study for a future high speed rail line on the Front Range.

CDOT acknowledged opposition from the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments and residents of Black Forest. In an open letter to the Black Forest Community, David Krutsinger, project manager for the feasibility study wrote, "CDOT will engage Pikes Peak area residents and elected officials in developing and considering ideas for a new alignment."

As a result of this decision, a public meeting at the Pinery, which had been scheduled for September 25th, has been canceled.
