Best Christmas Ever gets underway

Some 8,000 people are expected to fill Mr. Biggs event center this morning for the Best Christmas Ever. The event provides a full turkey dinner along with a gift a bike and some play time at Biggs to families in need in the community.

The event began 4 years ago when it appeared that the annual Christmas giveaway hosted by local businessman and philanthropist Bob Telmosse would have to be canceled.

Organizer Steve Bigari recalls in video post on the Best Christmas Ever website how with 3 weeks to go until Christmas, hundreds of people from the community flooded Mr. Biggs with donations to keep the tradition alive.

"As we helped a little girl and her mom to their car, loaded down with toys, food and a brand new bike she looked up and said 'Mommy this is the best Christmas ever,' and that's where the name came from," Bigari said.

Families who receive the donations are selected from local non-profit agencies who help the poor. The Best Christmas Ever is sponsored by Mr. Biggs, America's Family, The Springs Rescue Mission and Rocky Mountain Bank and Trust.
