Bent's Fort back to normal

Historic guns and buffalo furs are back at Bent's Old Fort after the sentencing of an Otero County man accused of burglarizing the national historic site.

Colorado's U.S. Attorney announced Monday that 32-year-old Jeffrey Scott Willcoxon has been sentenced to more than seven years for being a felon in possession of firearms in a plea agreement.

In 2010, Bent's Old Fort and other historic sites in southeast Colorado reported burgalries of reproduction flintlock firearms, buffalo furs, cash and other items. The fort was founded in 1833 by fur traders and rebuilt in 1976 as a historic site.

A tip led authorities to Willcoxon, who was arrested after selling guns to an undercover federal agent. Authorities say the historic items have been recovered.
