U.S. Senator Michael Bennet was in Pueblo today to tour the Vestas wind tower factory. The junior senator wanted to learn more about Vestas' training program at Pueblo Community College and the company's future.
Vestas projects wind energy production will increase in the U.S. by about 40% in the coming year. Bennet says growing demand will require a larger workforce. So he wanted high school students to come on the tour and learn more. "It's really important for us to begin to produce mathematicians and engineers again in this country. We have one young man here that's going into the Navy to become a mechanical engineer. He got the chance today to see how you might able some of what you learn," said Sen. Bennet.
After touring Vestas, Bennet visited some military bases in Colorado Springs.
