Bell Game standout is named "Athlete of the Week"

He was the MVP last Friday when Pueblo Centennial beat Pueblo Central in the Bell Game. Now running back John Vela is the "Loaf ‘N Jug High School Athlete of the Week."

Vela the leading rusher in class 3A rushed for 231 yards and three touchdowns in the Bulldogs 32-20 win over the Wildcats in the 100th edition of the Bell Game.

He also is a leader off the field. John carries a very good grade point average, is the editor of the yearbook and a member of the Bulldog Pack. The Bulldog Pack is a student ambassador program where he mentors more than 30 freshmen students a day. He also works well with young kids and serves as a great role model for them.
