Remembrance ceremonies take place all across the nation for 9/11, including in Pueblo at the Riverwalk.
The ringing of a bell is an act of respect symbolizing the last fight of all those who lost their lives on 9/11.
There was a 21 gun salute, and wreaths were laid near a 9/11 memorial partially made of a steel beam from Ground Zero.
"It's a time to reflect on what happened to our nation, and it's also a time to remind ourselves to be ever vigilant that something like 9/11 will never happen again and also that we will do everything we can no matter what call it is in the fire service to prevent a line of duty death," said Chief Chris Riley, Pueblo Fire Department.
This is the first year they've held the ceremony on the Riverwalk, and those there say it was a beautiful experience.
