Bear tranquilized, removed from Colorado Springs tree

Colorado Springs Fire Department crews and members of Colorado Parks and Wildlife worked together Sunday to remove a black bear from a high perch in a tree at the intersection of Chelton Road and Claremont Street in central Colorado Springs.  The bear drew a large crowd of onlookers and crews worked for hours to determine how best to remove the bear from the tree to ensure the safety of both the bear and the public.  Parks and Wildlife officers tranquilized the bear and a CSFD ladder truck was brought in to access the bear in its high perch.  It was safely brought to the ground after 7:30 Sunday night.
