The Colorado Division of Wildlife confirms a bear trap has been set in the Palmer Lake area after two miniature donkeys were killed.
It happened a couple of miles west of I-25 near Highway 105. The owner of the property reported one miniature donkey was taken last week and another this week. A bear is suspected because of hair and tracks found in the area. The bear had to climb over a metal panel to get to the donkeys. It then carried the donkey back out over the panel and ate it.
The Division of Wildlife plans to leave the trap at least through tonight.
