Volunteers have purchased and wrapped nearly 900 gifts for senior citizens in the Woodland Park and Colorado Springs area, but they're short about 100 gifts.

The program, coordinated by Home Instead Senior Care, has members of the community pick from a giving tree. They started with 1,000 names and gift wishes, and now need about 100 more gifts. No item on the tree is more than $20 and the recipients are either home bound or in nursing homes, with very few resources.

"In nursing homes, it's real, simple things. It could be socks. It could be a pair of pajamas. It could be like, this gentleman said he wanted some chocolates, so chocolate," says Kathryn Curry of Home Instead Senior Care.

Curry says monetary donations would be best, so they can quickly shop for the gifts, wrap them, and deliver them this week.

To donate, contact Home Instead Senior Care at 719-534-0908.
