Battle over redistricting begins

Redistricting--the redrawing of boundaries for political races--happens after each census.  And in Colorado, the battle is off to a heated start.

Republicans are opposing an attempt by Democrats to strip out limits that were placed on the role of the courts after a Denver District Court judge drew congressional district lines nearly a decade ago. Republicans said the limits were imposed in 2003 because state Supreme Court, which has the final say, is partisan.

The House State Affairs committee delayed action on Thursday and lawmakers will vote on the bill next Tuesday.
