Highway 50 bypass was closed for a couple of hours in Pueblo County, after a fire damaged three adjacent properties.
The fire started around noon near 25th Lane and Highway 50. A fire station is located right across the street, so crews were able to respond quickly. No homes were damaged, but the owner of one of the properties, John Gage, says he lost a barn, and horse corrals and had a trailer damaged. A garage and two other outbuildings were destroyed, along with four vehicles.
Gage told News First 5, "I was waiting on a woman trying to sell her a trailer and she's the one who spotted it. It was coming from right around that tree over there. It came from the neighbor's property and by the time we got down here to get the horses out of the barn, it was fully ablaze. It happened that fast." Gage was able to inside and get his two horses out safely.
There's no word yet about what caused the fire.
Damage is estimated at $100,000.
