Bank was robbed twice in a month

Investigators with the Colorado Springs Police Department say that when the American National Bank Branch on Briargate Boulevard was robbed this morning it was the second time it was hit in a month.

The suspect is described as man, perhaps in his 20's, approximately 5'8" to 5'10" tall. He was wearing a ski mask, grey hoodie and a navy blue leather jacket.

Customer Colin Downs was in the bank at the time. He says at first it didn't seem real.

"He said 'Hey, everybody get on the ground' and no one really got down, everyone just kind of looked at him like wonder if this was a test, it just didn't seem real," Downs said.

At that point, Downs says the suspect pointed the gun in the face of each person in the lobby and ordered them to the ground.

Sgt. Dale Fox of the CSPD says the man only took the cash from the tellers and didn't attempt to break into the bank vault. Fox couldn't say how much money was taken because the robbery is still under investigation.

This is the 10th bank robbery of the year in Colorado Springs. There were 9 in all of 2010.
