A popular Colorado Springs balloon event will go on as scheduled, even though you may have heard otherwise. On Monday and Tuesday the offices of the Colorado Balloon Classic were flooded with calls. A rumor was spreading that the event scheduled for this weekend had been canceled. It turns out some people were getting the Classic mixed up with a balloon event in Denver that was canceled. "What we were told by people calling our office is that they heard a large balloon event was canceled because they couldn't come up with the money." says event owner and president Patsy Buchwald. The 2009 Colorado Balloon Classic sponsored by News First 5 kicks off early Saturday morning at Memorial Park. You can watch Craig Eliot live from the Balloon Classic Saturday morning. He'll be doing cut ins at News First Now starting just after six - and he'll be live here on channel five every half hour starting at 6:25 until eight. You can also tune in to News First Now for coverage Sunday morning starting at six.
