GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 26 shots for his second straight shutout and Radim Vrbata scored twice to lift the Phoenix Coyotes to a 3-0 win over the struggling Colorado Avalanche Monday night. The Avs have been shut out in the last two games.
Bryzgalov had 25 saves in a 1-0 win over Minnesota on Saturday and followed that with another sterling performance to give Phoenix consecutive shutouts for the first time since Brian Boucher set the modern-day NHL record with five straight in 2003-04. It was his 21st career shutout and fifth this season.
The last Phoenix goalie to post shutouts in consecutive starts was Curtis Joseph, who did it with a game off in between in 2006-07.
Scottie Upshall also scored for the Coyotes, who had allowed 11 straight goals before Bryzgalov's scoreless streak.
