DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced that the team will hold its annual Burgundy/White Game on Monday, Sept. 20 at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
This year marks the first time that the Burgundy/White Game will be played in Broomfield. The annual contest has previously taken place in Denver and Colorado Springs.
The Burgundy/White Game features all Avalanche players competing in a three-period, intra-squad scrimmage. Fans in attendance will also have the opportunity to watch a shootout at the end of regulation regardless of the score.
A portion of the proceeds from this year's game will benefit Kroenke Sports Charities and Colorado Avalanche Youth Hockey programs. The previous 10 Burgundy/White games have generated in excess of $500,000 for various charitable causes throughout Colorado. Since 1995, the Colorado Avalanche Community Fund and Kroenke Sports Charities have made donations exceeding $12 million to local charities throughout Colorado.
"We are excited to be bringing the Burgundy/White Game to our fans in Broomfield," said Avalanche General Manager/Executive Vice President Greg Sherman. "The Burgundy/White Game is a unique event for Avalanche fans to see all of their favorite players in action while also supporting a terrific cause."
