Avalanche understand the high stakes coming Sunday

Patrick Roy is following in the footsteps of John Elway: One of the best ever has returned to his former team to lead them to one of their best seasons ever.

Colorado lost Friday night, but so did St. Louis, the team they're tied with for the division lead. It all means when the Avs play Anaheim Sunday, a win, mixed with a Ducks loss Saturday, would give the Avalanche the number one seed in the West and the franchise record for most wins in a season.

"I'm happy that I'm part of it as a coach," says Head Coach Patrick Roy. "Records are meant to be broken, and that's what are guys have done. They deserve a lot of credit. You're not achieving these things if you're not consistent and that's what our team has been."

The game tomorrow night at 6pm is the regular season finale for both teams. The Ducks are the only team in the West with more points than the Avs. If Anaheim wins Saturday night over the Kings, they'd clinch the West regardless of Sunday's outcome.
