The Colorado Avalanche looked to finish out the first half of their season on a high note as they traveled to the "Big Apple" for a match-up against the Islanders.
With contributions from Matt Duchene, and Nathan Mackinnon the Avs rolled the Islanders by a final of 5-2 leading them into the Olympic break.
Mackinnon pushed in his 22nd goal of the season, behind the strength of Jean Sebastien Giguere in net who stoned 30 of 32 opportunities on Saturday.
The Avalanche now head into the Olympic break and won't play again until February 26th when they face-off against the Los Angeles Kings at the Pepsi Center.
