The Connecticut medical examiner says a Yale graduate student found dead in her lab building was killed by asphyxiation caused by neck trauma.

Dr. Wayne Carver's office released the results Wednesday, three days after the body of 24-year-old Annie Le was found. Carver had previously announced Le's death as a homicide.

The office says her death was caused by "traumatic asphyxia due to neck compression."

That could include a choke hold, among other causes.

The office could not say "anything at this point" about whether there were signs of sexual assault.

Police released a Yale animal research technician from custody Wednesday after collecting DNA samples and questioning him.
