Authorities are investigating a Park County rancher after animal control officers found two dozen of his cows dead on grazing land.

No one has been arrested and the Park County Sheriff's Office says investigators will decide Monday whether animal neglect charges are warranted.

Park County Animal Control spokeswoman Bobbi Priestly says the 24 cows were found in the past week after neighbors concerned about the animals began calling authorities. The sheriff's office say it's possible the animals died because they were left without enough food or adequate shelter from the cold.
