A Florence native who survived the Aurora theater shooting is paying it forward, supporting a fundraiser for victims of the Black Forest Fire and a local advocate program.
Caleb Medley is recovering after he was shot in the head during the July 2012 massacre. His wife, Katie Medley, says her family has received an outpouring of generosity since then and wants to give back.
The couple is inviting the community to attend a fundraiser Saturday to support the Fremont County Victim Advocate Program and those affected by the destructive Black Forest Fire this summer.
The fundraiser will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Florence High School and includes comedy, an auction and blood drive.
It is being held in memory of victims of the Aurora theater shootings last year.
