A college atheist group is offering students pornography in exchange for their Bibles and other holy texts.

The porn-for-holy texts swap was held on the campus of the University of Texas San Antonio on Wednesday.

Athiest Carlos Morales said, "It's smut for smut. It's what they call smut for what is actually smut, which is their religious text."

The provocative claims are meant to draw a lot of discussion.

Counter demonstrations grew in front of the exchange booth. Christians had their own table set up to offer their own perspective. "I think the Bible is a guide," explained Keisha Davis. "It's something that's supposed to help you throughout your life."

Some defenders of religion questioned why pornography had to be used to grab people's attention. "Especially from an organization that believes in free thinking or logic," said Hunter Vick. "Thought they could have come up with a better way to do that."

UTSA says it's an issue of free speech.

"We were familiar with what they were going to do and of course what we're going to look at is are they following the rules," said David Gabler of the UTSA Public Affairs office.
