ASPEN, Colorado (AP) - Aspen's special events organizers are considering making changes to the Aspen Backcounty Marathon next year over concerns participants may run into bears.

The marathon includes a stretch through prime black bear habitat. The race in August also coincides with the bears' prime feeding season before winter hibernation.

According to the Aspen Daily News, organizers are considering changing the race date or the route.
