Colorado wildlife officials say a man is recovering from his injuries after a black bear entered his home and attacked him.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife says the man was attacked Thursday night by a large black bear after he went to the first floor of his home to check on his three barking dogs. DOW spokeswoman Randy Hampton says the man opened a window in the home so the bear would leave.

Hampton says the man did not suffer life-threatening injuries and is being treated at a local hospital. Wildlife officers are expected to talk to the man Friday morning. His name was not released and additional details of the attack were not immediately known.

Wildlife officers are searching for the bear and will euthanize it when they find it.
