Asheville Tourists manager won't be back

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - The manager of the Asheville Tourists minor league baseball team won't be back next season.

The Colorado Rockies have released Joe Mikulik, who guided the team to the South Atlantic League championship this year.

Mikulik has been manager of the Tourists for 13 years. He finishes with a record of 938 wins and 860 losses.

He was inducted into the South Atlantic League Hall of Fame in 2010. He earned the manager of the year award this season, as well as in 2001, 2007 and 2008.

Mikulik has the most wins in the history of the franchise and the league.

Tourists president Brian DeWine says the Rockies informed the team that Mikulik would not be back next season. DeWine says the parent club provided no reason for the decision.
