After meeting with supporters Wednesday, Artist Christo says he's still working on a proposed art project over the Arkansas River, despite his wife's death in November.
Christo met with about 110 supporters at a reception Wednesday, in Salida in his first public appearance there without wife and partner Jeanne-Claude.
The couple started working on "Over the River" in 1992, and Christo said the couple had agreed to keep working on it even if one of them died. The project would suspend large fabric panels over stretches of the Arkansas River. It is awaiting approval from the Bureau of Land Management.
Christo turns 75 next month. He says that even if he disappears, the project's managers, Jonita and Vince Davenport, will have enough money to finish it.
