Arrests may relieve city of more robberies

Colorado Springs police may have caught a break in the growing number of robberies that have taken place at local businesses this month. Nearly 50 stores have been hit.

On Sunday night, 5 people were arrested in connection with a pair of robberies at local 7/11 convenience stores.

Sergeant Steve Noblitt say the two adults and 3 juveniles are also suspected in robberies at two Chinese food restaurants and a check cashing store from a week earlier.

A convenience store clerk called to report a suspicious vehicle, and when a patrol officer pulled over the car, the robbery suspects were inside.

"I think it's incumbent on every person whether you have a business or not or if your just a citizen out walking around to be vigilant," Noblitt said. "If you see suspicious behavior to report it."

The adults arrested are Benito Castillo, 23 and Edward Castillo, 21.  Sgt. Noblitt says the department is not releasing their booking photos until they've had a chance to see how many other robberies the pair are connected to.
