Arrest made in October shooting at Fort Carson Burger King

A civilian has been arrested on Fort Carson for a robbery and shooting at the Burger King on-post.  He is also suspected in a robbery and shooting at a Cricket wireless store in Colorado Springs.  An active-duty service member is also being held on related charges.

The U.S. Department of Justice Wednesday announced that Joshua Bodean Smith, 20, was arrested late Tuesday at a home on-post.  The case was investigated by the FBI, the U.S. Army Criminal Investigative Division, and Colorado Springs Police, according to a press release from the Department of Justice.

Smith is suspected of robbing the Burger King on-post on October 11.  A manager was shot in the leg during the incident.  The victim was treated for injuries at Evans Army Hospital on-post.

According to the press release, an affidavit also reveals that Smith is suspected of robbing the Cricket wireless store on South Nevada Avenue on August 31.  An employee was shot in the shoulder in that incident.

Smith faces robbery and weapons charges for the incident at the Fort Carson Burger King, but has not yet been charged with the Cricket wireless robbery and shooting.  The press release says Smith was expected to be brought to U.S. District Court in Denver on Wednesday for advisement of the charges against him.

No information was provided about the active-duty service member being held by military authorities on related charges.
