Arrest Affidavit: Murder suspect used victim's credit card

The Manitou Springs man accused of killing his roommate signed the rent agreement a day before he called 9-1-1 to report her death, according to newly released documents.

Christopher Miller was arrested last week on a charge of first degree murder.

Deputies say the victim, Jacqueline Knudson, 56, died of blunt force trauma to her head and found inside her home on Waltham Avenue July 2. Miller told deputies he was living at the home rent free in exchange for care, but that didn't match a lease agreement deputies found inside the home, signed by Miller, that he would pay $100 a week.

According to the arrest affidavit, Miller stayed at a friend's house the night before reporting Knudson was dead. That night deputies say Miller used her credit card, charging nearly $200 at a liquor store, lounge and several stores at the Citadel Mall.

Detectives also say they found blood on Miller's pants and in the driver's side of the victim's car, the same car friends believe Miller drove to their home.
The arrest affidavit did not speculate on a motive.
