U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan visited Falcon High School on Friday to lead a roundtable discussion focused on military families.
One topic discussed was how to get a quality education when your family is always on the move to a new city.
Duncan says it isn't just about making students feel comfortable and welcoming them with open arms, it's about pushing them to do their best academically so they don't fall behind.
"Having high standards for young people regardless of what their dreams or aspirations are is absolutely the right thing," says Duncan.
He says having counselors on hand for the emotional needs of students is also critical.
Falcon High School principal Cheryl DeGeorge says the school learned Duncan would be visiting about a week ago.
She commented that students had gotten national recognition in military magazines and newsletters prior to the visit.
