Army Sergeant arrested for two assaults, breaking into woman's home and bedroom

A U.S. Army Sergeant is facing burglary and assault charges after police say he attacked a woman in her home, as well as his wife at a different location.

A 25-year-old Colorado Springs woman heard loud noises in her home on the 3600 block of Agate Circle early Saturday morning; she called police. According to a report from Colorado Springs Police, 25-year-old Sgt. Sitiveni Tupou broke down the woman's bedroom door and attacked her and her dog. She was able to escape and get help from police officers as they were arriving. The man was still inside the home, destroying a lot of the furniture and other items inside.

Police say Sgt. Tupou resisted arrested but was eventually detained by CSPD K9 Rudy and handler, Officer Juhl. He was arrested for burglary, assault, and damage to property. Sgt. Tupou received minor injuries.

While that investigation was taking place a woman that had been the victim of assault showed up at the Colorado Springs Police Operations Center. That woman was the wife of Sgt. Tupou according to police.

Police say before breaking into the woman's home at Agate Circle, Sgt. Tupou assaulted his wife during an argument after a night of partying; that was near Maizeland and N. Academy Blvd.

Both women have minor injuries from the attacks.

Sgt. Tupou is an active duty soldier assigned to the 4th Combat Support Brigade, according to CSPD.
