Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey is visiting Fort Carson to meet with commanders and soldiers getting ready to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Casey will be at the post on Thursday. His visit comes as the military begins a study on the possible repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy on gays and lesbians in the armed forces.

Casey will meet with commanders of the 43rd Sustainment Brigade, which is preparing to go to Iraq, and the 1st Brigade Combat Team, which is headed to Afghanistan.

He'll also meet with soldiers during a private lunch.
