ARENBERG, France - Thor Hushovd of Norway won a treacherous third stage of the Tour de France, while Lance Armstrong lost time to defending champion Alberto Contador and last year's runner-up Andy Schleck.
Switzerland's Fabian Cancellara reclaimed the overall leader's yellow jersey a day after losing it to Sylvain Chavanel. The Frenchman lost time while dealing with two flat tires.
Seven-time champion Armstrong had to deal with a burst tire and will begin Stage 4 in 18th place, 2 minutes and 30 seconds off the pace. He trails Contador by 50 seconds.
The 132-mile ride from Belgium to France was the most dreaded stage of week one. It included seven sections of bone-jarring cobblestones that threatened injury, bike damage or lost time for contenders.
