Applebee's in both Colorado Springs and Pueblo honored active service members and veterans by serving them free meals on Veterans Day.

At the restaurant's Colorado Springs location on Galley Road, the wait for a table was up to forty-five minutes during lunch. While past and present service members waited in the cold, Wasson's Navy Junior ROTC students welcomed them and served them hot apple cider.

"To all the veterans out there, I thank you for your service," says Wasson ROTC student Dakota Panco. "It gives me the opportunity to do this and I salute you guys," he adds.

In the first two hours of lunch service, Applebee's confirmed that they gave away approximately one thousand dollars worth of food to our service members at the Galley Road store, and the crowds kept coming.

It was a busy day for the Wasson Navy Junior ROTC students, too. In addition to volunteering at the Applebee's on Galley Road, members from the school paid tribute to veterans at several locations across Colorado Springs by performing a color guard ceremony at the Pikes Peak Care and Rehabilitation Center, as well as the Stargazers Theater and Event Center.
