The 2009 World Series begins Wednesday night in New York as the Yankees entertain Philadelphia.

The Phillies advanced last week by eliminating the L.A. Dodgers in a five-game NLCS. The Yankees qualified with their 5-2 victory last night over the Angels in Game 6 of the ALCS.

The first two games of the best of five series will take place in the new Yankee Stadium. Games three, four and if need be, game five being played in Citizens Bank Ballpark in Philly. If the Fall Classic goes the distance, the last game would be played in New York on Nov. 5.

The Game 1 pitching matchup is a nightmare for fans of the Cleveland Indians as it features the last two American League Cy Young Award winners. CC Sabathia won the award while with the Indians in 2007, while Cliff Lee won the honor last year while playing for Cleveland. Both pitchers were traded in the last year of their contract, Sabathia in 2008 and Lee this past July.
