Officers in Colorado Springs arrested a suspect involved in a Pueblo murder case Thursday morning. Mathew Barnes, 31, was taken into custody in the 2900 block of Sage St. in Colorado Springs.
Barnes was indicted by a Pueblo County Grand Jury on January 26, for his involvement in the December 2009 death of Robert Piserchio. Piserchio died at his home just outside the southwest border of the city of Pueblo. Barnes was also wanted on two warrants out of El Paso County for failure to register as a sex offender.
Barnes was transported to the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division without incident. Sheriff Kirk Taylor said, "We appreciate the assistance of the officers at the Colorado Springs Police Department. It was extremely important that this individual be apprehended for the safety of the community and the closure of this heinous crime."
According to the Pueblo Sheriff's Office, Barnes is being held in the Pueblo County Jail on a total bond of $254,000. He is charged with robbery, burglary and giving false information to a pawn broker.
