An emergency animal shelter at the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region has closed for the night and will re-open the shelter again at 8:00 Sunday morning.

Shelter workers say they have taken in some 14 animals from fire evacuees. If there is an emergent need, HSPPR is asking evacuees to call 719-473-1741.

Animal should be brought to the west entrance near the surgery center. The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region is located at 610 Abbott Lane in Colorado Springs near the 8th Street Wal-mart.

People have been bringing by food donations and the humane society says they appreciate the support. However, they do not have an urgent need for food or other donations at this point.
