AAA Colorado today projects the number of Thanksgiving holiday travelers in the Mountain States of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, will increase 10.7 percent from 2009. Approximately 3 million travelers plan to take a trip at least 50 miles away from home. Nationally, 42.2 million Americans will travel during the Thanksgiving holiday. This is an 11.4 percent increase from 2009.
The forecasted double-digit increase would signify the first important upturn since 2008's historic 25 percent decline in holiday travel. There was negligible growth in 2009 of 0.2 percent.
