American hiker released

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - American Sarah Shourd says she's grateful to Iran's president and other officials for her release from a Tehran prison, calling it an "humanitarian gesture."

Shourd was flown out of captivity into the arms of her mother waiting in Oman today. She was released after arrangements were made to satisfy Iran's demand for a $500,000 bail. American officials said neither the U.S. government nor the family put up the money.  In brief remarks to Iran's English-language state television
station, Shourd said she was "grateful" and "very humbled by this moment." Iran's Press TV also broadcast images of her boarding a jet and waving from the window of the aircraft before it took off.

Iran is still holding her two hiking companions. The trio was picked up along the Iran-Iraq border more than a year ago and accused of spying.
